Bob Pender Troupe
Archie Leach (Cary Grant) with the Bob Pender troupe (sitting, far right) Archie's was very keen on the newly opened Hippodrome on Bristol's Centre, on one such visit he went backstage and met the famous Bob Pender travelling troupe of acrobats. Pender was always looking for new members. By July 1920, at the age of 16, Archie sailed to New York with the troupe. (Quoted from Paul Townsend's Flickr site) The young man sitting in the middle of the front row is Victor Watts's grandfather Harry Hart..Both he and Victor's grandmother Olive Hart nee Watts were members of the Pender troupe. Diane Hatwell believes that Bob Pender is the gent back left, and that the curly hair at the back right belongs to Doris Lomas. Can anyone identify any of the others?
