- In October 2025 I received an email from Sylvia Rosher which gives some extra information regarding the family:
Elsie Cornie Nicolls was born out of wedlock to Rose Ella Nicolls. We do not know who the father is. We have found mention of it being a Jack Nicolls but we believe this is wrong.
Elsie was raised from birth by her aunt, Mary Jane Nicolls.
Rose Ella (known as Sis) went on to marry George Alfred James Leal and have three further children, Eileen, Dorothy and Charles. It was not until 1971 at the golden wedding anniversary of Sis and Alf that the "secret" was revealed to the family and Elsie was acknowledged as a sister.
Just for interest - Levi James Nicolls would be Elsies great uncle.
