"A ghost show using a magic lantern to project images of ghosts, skeletons, and other macabre beings onto a screen was referred to as a "phantasmagoria" (a collection of ghosts). Loud explosions, thunderclaps and a smokey atomosphere (created with dry ice) added to the special effects. "
