Hello, welcome to my Family Tree Website. This tree focuses on the four branches of my grandparents: Sydney Vernon & Elizabeth Masser and William John Queen & Elsie Hartley.
The Vernon side of the family came from Scotland but I have not yet been able to find the parents of, or even a birth, for my Great Grandfather George Douglas Vernon in about 1847.
The Queen (or possibly Quinn) side came from Ireland (probably during the potato famine) via Scotland and then to Lancashire.
The Masser’s originate from Selby, Yorkshire moving to Lancashire in the early 1800s and for several generations were cordwainers.
The Hartley’s came from Rochdale in Lancashire but my great grandmother’s family go back to Broseley and Ironbridge in Shropshire and must have lived there when the bridge was built in 1779/1781. Later they moved to North Wales before Lancashire.
